Project Exploration and Chicago Learning Exchange have partnered up once again to bring the Remake Learning Days CHI (RLD) festival to Austin. RLD is for youth, families, grandparents, caregivers and educators to discover creative ways of learning. This year's festival has online and in-person learning experiences designed to engage learners of all ages.

CodeCreate Crafty Coding + Trusting Technology with Code Create

In this 90 minute professional development session, we'll review the intersections of storytelling and technology that Code Create has explored and developed over our organization's eight years with a very diverse range of collaborators. Many educators have seen the value in combining personal experiences with the computation empowering new expression, but through shared best practices we'll discover some of the best techniques for classrooms and learning environments of all types.

Listen to Me with Project Increase

Project Increase presents the 2018 film "Listen To Me" which features youth from the city of Chicago and they share their perspectives of growing up in their community and how they feel it impacts their future. Theatre Event with Austin Town Hall

This 45 minute activity from Northwestern University combines elements of musical performance with computer coding. Cardboard Switching with Code Create

Inspired by The Imagination Foundation's Global Cardboard Challenge and the MIT Media Lab's Makey Makey, participants begin by brainstorming their surroundings, exploring shapes, building simple animals, objects or machines (such as a lion, rocket ship or lamp) out of cardboard and then decorate those surfaces in aluminum foil to trigger an application (usually originally written computer code, triggered via a Makey Makey board) to create a response. Participants take the cardboard sculpture away as well as a link to Scratch.

Building Bridges with BitSpace and Chicago Austin Youth Travel Adventures

You can also participate in a special community art project about Project Exploration’s “DNA”! We want YOU to contribute your piece by simply coloring a worksheet of DNA and answering some questions about how you play a unique role in Project Exploration’s community identity! We will take everyone’s DNA helixes and combine them to create PE’s collective DNA. PE will then work to paint all the DNA coloring sheets onto a special location at Project Exploration for the community to view!
