Remake Learning Days Across America (RLDAA) is a celebration of innovative experiences and opportunities for youth to develop their sense of creativity, perseverance and curiosity. The Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX), Local Lead Partners, and Event Hosts will turn Chicago into an open house learning laboratory online and in-person. In partnership with My Chi. My Future, we will feature fun and free events for youth of all ages at which families will experience making, new technology, art workshops, science experiments, student films, outdoor learning and more! Chicago STEM Pathways Cooperative coordinates and is the leader for the Austin neighborhood during the Remake Learning Days festival.

This 45 minute activity from Northwestern University combines elements of musical performance with computer coding. Cardboard Switching with Code Create

Inspired by The Imagination Foundation's Global Cardboard Challenge and the MIT Media Lab's Makey Makey, participants begin by brainstorming their surroundings, exploring shapes, building simple animals, objects or machines (such as a lion, rocket ship or lamp) out of cardboard and then decorate those surfaces in aluminum foil to trigger an application (usually originally written computer code, triggered via a Makey Makey board) to create a response. Participants take the cardboard sculpture away as well as a link to Scratch.

You can also participate in a special community art project about Project Exploration’s “DNA”! We want YOU to contribute your piece by simply coloring a worksheet of DNA and answering some questions about how you play a unique role in Project Exploration’s community identity! We will take everyone’s DNA helixes and combine them to create PE’s collective DNA. PE will then work to paint all the DNA coloring sheets onto a special location at Project Exploration for the community to view!
