On November 15th, the Chicago STEM Pathways Cooperative (STEM Co-op) convened virtually.

The Co-op was pleased to welcome Dr. Nichole Pinkard and Wade Berger from Northwestern University to present on the STEAMbassadors workforce initiative. The initiative was designed to provide more equitable access to joyful STEM learning and experiences by training 18-24 year-old college students in the Chicagoland area to facilitate a wide variety of STEM curricula with Chicago youth. The initiative is a shining example of the power of collective impact, as its inception and implementation have been wholly collaborative efforts with stakeholders from Higher Education, Community Organizations, Funders, and City Government Institutions.

The Co-op then discussed the opportunities for young adults currently in place through Co-op members and around the city, and opportunities for growth and collaboration as we work to provide meaningful STEM engagement and employment opportunities for young adults. Finally, Co-op Director Sarah Tinsman provided an overview of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for Winter Break STEM in the CHI programming, through which Co-op members can contribute curricula and resources for Winter Break STEM camps.
